Connect Garmin to Claude in 6 minutes

You do not need Python. You do not need a config file. In 2026 you connect Garmin to Claude by signing in once, copying a private link, and pasting it under Connectors. Then you ask how you slept.

We did this on a real watch. Claude read last night’s sleep and the last run without an export zip. This guide is that path, written for people who train, not people who ship code.

What you get

After you connect, Claude can read the same numbers your watch already stores: sleep stages and score, steps, heart rate, Body Battery, activities, laps, and training status. You type a normal sentence. Claude pulls the live data and answers in the same chat.

That is the whole product. The Garmin app stays the place you record. Claude becomes the place you think.

Your watch already has the session. Claude just needs a way to see it.

What you need

If you can log into Garmin Connect today, you can finish this guide.

The six minutes

1. Open the connect page

Go to garminmcp.com/connect. This is the easy Garmin MCP path: one form, no terminal.

2. Enter your Garmin email

Use the same address you use in the Garmin Connect app. Continue.

3. Enter your password

Used once to sign in. Garmin MCP does not keep the password. It keeps a session token so Claude can read your data when you ask.

4. Enter the code if Garmin asks

Many accounts use a 6-digit code from email or an authenticator app. Type it. This is the same check you already know from Garmin’s own login.

5. Copy your private link

You get one URL. Treat it like a key. Anyone with that link can ask Claude about your watch. Do not post it in a group chat.

6. Paste it in Claude

The next section is the exact menu path. After that, ask a question. Most people finish in a few minutes. Garmin’s sign-in can take about a minute on its own. Wait for the “you are in” screen before you copy.

Three moves after the watch is connected: copy, paste, ask.

Paste the link in Claude

  1. Open claude.ai on your phone or computer.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Open Connectors.
  4. Tap Add custom connector and name it “Garmin”.
  5. Paste your Garmin MCP link and select Continue.
  6. Keep No sign-in selected and select Add. Your link is your key, so keep it to yourself.
  7. Ask: “How did I sleep last night?”

On some Claude screens the menu is Customize → Connectors. Look for Connectors. If Claude asks to allow tools, allow them for this chat so it can read sleep and activities.

Claude Code, Cursor, other apps

Claude is tested. Other apps that accept a custom MCP connector link can use the same link. You connect Garmin once.

Claude Code

In a terminal: claude mcp add --transport http garmin YOUR_LINK. Then start a new session and ask how you slept. Full steps: Garmin in Claude Code.

Cursor

Cursor accepts URL-type MCP servers, so the same link fits there. Steps: Add Garmin to Cursor.

First questions to ask

Start with one night and one session. Wide questions work after Claude has seen a few days.

We asked a real watch about last night. Sleep score came back at 91 with over seven hours in bed, and the last sport was a run. That is the test: a sentence in, your numbers out.

If a step stalls

Garmin sign-in can sit on “Talking to Garmin” for about a minute. That is normal. If it fails, wait a few minutes and try once. Garmin rate-limits busy logins. Use the same email you use in the Garmin Connect app, not a new one.

If Claude does not show Connectors, you are probably on a plan or a screen that hides custom connectors. Try claude.ai in a desktop browser, signed in, then Settings. On Team plans an owner may need to allow connectors once.

If Claude answers without numbers, the connector is added but tools are blocked. Open the connector and allow tools for the chat. Then ask the sleep question again.

If the code from Garmin expires, start the form from the email step. Codes are short-lived. Keep the authenticator app open before you tap Connect Garmin.
